Freedom Ship

Floating City Vision

Overview

Freedom Ship is one of those rare projects that doesn’t fit into a box. It’s not a cruise ship, not a real estate development, and not just a concept. It’s a fully integrated, continuously moving ocean community designed to bring together living, working, hospitality, healthcare, and research in one place.

The project was designed by Chief Design Architect E. Kevin Schopfer, AIA, RIBA, who provided the initial vision through conceptual hand sketches and a physical study model. Tangram 3DS was brought in through DCC-X LLC, the project’s development and communications entity, to take that vision and turn it into something that could be clearly understood, experienced, and shared.

Opportunity

The opportunity was to take a bold and ambitious idea and make it real in a way people could immediately connect with. At the outset, Freedom Ship existed as a vision supported by early design studies, sketches, and a physical model. What was missing was a clear and consistent way to communicate its scale, its function, and what it would actually feel like.

Our role was to bridge that gap—to translate Kevin’s design intent into a complete digital and communication platform that could support everything from first impressions to investor presentations.

A project of this scale requires clarity across architecture, infrastructure, and experience.

Approach

We didn’t treat this as a rendering project. We approached it as a full build. Starting with Kevin’s sketches and physical model, we developed a full-scale 3D model of the Freedom Ship. This model became the backbone for everything that followed, allowing us to define scale, proportions, and relationships across a structure of unprecedented size. In parallel, we developed the narrative. We structured the story into clear sections—Vision, Origins, Life On Board, Technology & Infrastructure—so the project can be understood quickly without overcomplicating it.

From there, we moved into production. Every rendering, animation, and video was built from the same model and guided by the same thinking. The focus was consistency and clarity, making sure that no matter where the project appears, it presents as one unified vision. From infrastructure to everyday life—the goal was to make the experience tangible.

Finally, we brought everything together into a single system. We developed the visual language, branding, and website as one connected platform, not separate pieces. The website now serves as the central hub, bringing together story, visuals, team, and technical context in a way that feels natural and easy to navigate.

Result

The result is more than a set of visuals. It is a complete, working platform that supports how Freedom Ship is presented to the world. At its core is a full-scale 3D model that drives all visual output. From that foundation, we created a consistent visual language, high-end renderings, animations, video content, and a fully developed website, along with press-ready materials aligned for launch. A unified platform bringing together story, visuals, and technical context. Everything comes from the same source and works together seamlessly. Most importantly, the project now feels real.

Impact

Freedom Ship now has a clear and credible presence from day one. People can understand it quickly, see how it works, and begin to connect with the idea in a meaningful way. The team now has a solid foundation to present the project, engage with investors, and continue development with a consistent and reliable platform. Turning a concept into something people can see and believe in. This is where Tangram 3DS does its best work, taking complex ideas and shaping them into something clear, visual, and ready to be shared with the world.
