Tangram 3DS is honored to share that Amulet of Mumbai has been recognized with a Special Mention in the Architizer Vision Awards, in the Vision for Cities category. This distinction celebrates innovative, future-forward ideas that address the most pressing challenges facing urban environments today—resilience, livability, and equitable growth.

The project is featured alongside category Winners in the 2025 Vision Awards Winners Gallery. View the submission here: Architizer Vision Awards — Amulet of Mumbai

A climate-resilient vision for one of the world’s most dynamic cities

Mumbai sits at the crossroads of climate urgency and human ingenuity. Rising seas, intensifying monsoons, and high-density growth place stress on essential infrastructure and housing. Amulet of Mumbai proposes a floating, modular urban framework designed to adapt, protect, and evolve in step with the city’s long-term needs.

Conceived in collaboration with architect E. Kevin Schopfer, AIA RIBA, and architect Eleanor C. MacKay, AIA, MCBO, the vision translates Mumbai’s enduring spirit and cultural richness into a resilient urban ecosystem. The project’s form language draws inspiration from India’s legacy of fine jewelry—transforming the “amulet” into a protective, regenerative civic realm on water.

Key design principles

  • Floating mixed-use districts

    • Residential and civic zones organized as an expandable archipelago that scales with demand and sea-level projections.

  • Circular and self-sufficient systems

    • Closed-loop infrastructure for energy, water, and waste to reduce strain on legacy networks and improve reliability.

  • Elevated and amphibious platforms

    • Safe, adaptable public spaces designed to function across wet and dry conditions for daily life and emergency response.

  • Ecological harmony

    • Habitat-supporting edges and green corridors that enhance biodiversity and bring nature closer to everyday urban experience.

  • Cultural resonance

    • An iconic civic presence that nods to local craft traditions and national heritage, including a place for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Memorial.

Team Members

  • Klaudiusz Angerman, Architect
  • Monika Angerman, Architect

As a key design partner, Tangram 3DS shaped the project’s visual language and produced photoreal, spatially coherent imagery that communicates the system’s logic, its human-scale experience, and its relationship to Mumbai’s coastline and skyline—helping clients, jurors, and the public imagine what’s possible when design meets disruption.

Special Mention

The Architizer Vision Awards received entries from over 50 countries. A Special Mention recognizes work that demonstrates remarkable achievement and contributes meaningful ideas to the global design conversation. We’re proud to have Amulet of Mumbai included in this year’s gallery alongside fellow innovators shaping the future of cities.
